Overview

We offer an optional legal plan that grants you and your family unlimited access to experienced attorneys who are in-network through MetLife Legal Plans. If you choose to elect in coverage for this benefit, a modest premium will be automatically deducted from your pay (after taxes).

You can choose an in-network prequalified attorney, or use an out-of-network attorney and be reimbursed some of the cost. All attorney fees are covered as long as the matter is covered under your plan. There are no copays, deductibles or claim forms when using an in-network attorney for a covered legal matter.

As a best practice, we recommend reviewing your coverage plan before getting service. This coverage does exclude some services, and you might encounter some third-party fees like court costs, filing fees, fines, judgements, witness fees, transcripts and notary fees, depending on the attorney you work with.

You have flexible options

Your level of benefits depends on the attorney used to provide the legal service:

• If you use an attorney from the MetLife Legal Plans network, the plan will cover 100% of the attorneys’ fees for covered services.

• If you use an attorney from outside the network, the plan offers fee reimbursement up to a set dollar amount according to a fee schedule.
