Commuter Benefits

Iron Mountain's commuter benefits program allows you to set aside pre-tax funds for your work-related travel expenses, saving you money on your commute.

Eligible expenses include:

Public transportation: Bus, train, subway, ferry, vanpools, and carpools.

Parking: Parking at or near your workplace, or at a location where you connect with public transit or a carpool. Note that this does not include parking at your home.

  • Eligibility

To be eligible for this benefit, you must be a permanent employee working a minimum of 20 hours per week and regularly commute to a workplace using public transportation or paid parking.

    Who is not eligible?

The following employees are not eligible for this program:

    • Employees in Puerto Rico

    • Expats

    • Union employees

    • Employees who work exclusively from home

  • How it works

Commuter benefits allow you to use pre-tax and post-tax funds to pay for your commute to and from work, which can save you money.

Monthly contribution limits The IRS sets the maximum monthly pre-tax deduction limit for commuter benefits.

2026 Pre-tax limit: You can contribute up to $325 per month.

Using post-tax funds: To pay for expenses that exceed the monthly pre-tax limit, you can also elect a post-tax amount. This allows you to use your CommuterCard for all your expenses, even if they go over the IRS limit.

    Important rule: Reimbursement and deadlines

If a purchase exceeds the monthly limit, the transaction will be declined. You must use another form of payment and submit a claim for reimbursement on the NetBenefits website.

The IRS requires that all commuter claims must be submitted within 180 days of the date you incurred the expense.

    Benefit details

Transit passes: To help you save even more on public transportation, Iron Mountain will provide an employer contribution of up to $80 per month toward your pre-tax transit expenses.

    How the transit contribution works:

Monthly Pre-tax Employee Transit Enrollment Monthly Employer Contribution Monthly Employee Contribution
    $50 $50 $0
    $150 $80 $70

    Parking expenses

Use this benefit to pay for parking at or near your workplace, or at a location where you connect with mass transit or a carpool.

Note: Iron Mountain does not provide a contribution to the Parking benefit.

    Vanpool expense details

If you vanpool, the van must meet IRS requirements:

    • It must seat at least six adults plus the driver.

    • It must be used primarily for commuting (at least 80% of the time) and be at least half full on a regular basis.

    • A personal vehicle you or a fellow rider owns is not considered an eligible vanpool.
