What to expect for 2027
What to expect for 2027
We’ve updated your benefits to keep them competitive and cost-effective. Review the information below to learn what's new for you in 2027.
Enrolling or making a change?
Whether your newly eligible for benefits or making a change due to a qualified life event, there are several actions you’ll want to take to ensure you have the benefits coverage you need for your family.
Elect or update your medical, dental and vision benefits plan selections.
Add and/or remove dependents from your benefits plans and confirm whether a spousal surcharge applies.
Confirm your tobacco use.
Contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or any Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
Consider electing or changing your supplemental life insurance coverage: You can increase your coverage by 1x your annual base salary (up to $300,000) without providing information about your health.
Elect or update voluntary benefits, such as accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity, legal assistance and ID protection.
Add or update your beneficiaries.
The benefits you’re eligible for depend on whether you’re in a full-time or part-time role. You may include dependents in your coverage if they meet certain requirements and verification documents are submitted and approved.
Refer to this Quick Reference Guide to review changes you can make to each benefit, coverage effective dates, and required documentation that you will need to provide.

Aetna plan changes for 2027
We have simplified our options to three Aetna medical plans designed for different healthcare needs. All three plans include pharmacy coverage and 100% coverage for in-network preventive care. Each plan uses two tiers of providers; you will always save the most by using Tier 1.
Note: The Choice PPO will no longer be an option for 2027. If you're currently enrolled in the Choice PPO, you will automatically be enrolled in the Enhanced HDHP, along with your currently eligible and enrolled dependents, unless you make a different election.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 coverage changes
There are changes to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 coverages. Be sure to review the chart below to see what is changing. Find the full chart here.
-
Kaiser California
The Kaiser CA Plan has been updated and will now be subject to an annual deductible and coinsurance.
-
Premium pricing based on base pay
Medical premiums — the costs out of your paycheck — are determined on your base pay.
For 2027, a fourth salary band has been added for employees with a base salary over $100,000.
Your base salary as of October 1, 2026, determines your salary band for all of 2027. Employees hired after October 1 will have their rate determined by their base salary as of their hire date.
If you're enrolled in the Enhanced HDHP and open an HSA, the employer contributions are also based on your salary. The fourth salary band will match salary band 3 contributions.
-
Basic & Supplemental Life and AD&D insurance
For 2027, the company-paid Basic Life and AD&D benefit will be 1x your annual pay, up to $500,000.
Additional Supplemental Life Insurance Options During Open Enrollment:
If you were previously denied coverage, you will not be able to elect or increase coverage without completing the Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
If you are not currently enrolled and not previously denied coverage, you will be able to elect up to 5x salary, up to a maximum of $300,000 without needing to complete the EOI.
If you are currently enrolled at an amount below $300,000, you will be able to increase coverage up to 5x salary, up to a maximum of $300,000 without needing to complete the EOI.
If you are currently enrolled at an amount at or above $300,000, you will be able to increase coverage by 1x salary, up to a maximum of 7x salary or $1.2M without the need to complete EOI.
